Doubting Part Two

Part 2

In Part 1, I gave some of the many reasons folks have given for doubting their salvation. I also pointed out that doubt is not always an enemy. I have led many people to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour through their doubting. 2 Cor. 13:5 states, "Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?"

Look at 1John 3:18-21, "My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him. For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God." Notice these words: "assure our hearts", "For if our heart condemn us.", "confidence."

Please read 1 John 4:1-21 and 5: 1-13 which deal with the subject of assurance. Notice these words or statements: 4:2 "Hereby know ye", V4, "Ye are of God little Children"; v6, "We are of God’, v13 "Hereby know we that we dwell in Him, and He in us, because He hath given us of His Spirit." Chapter 5 is full of these truths as well. Notice: v1-2 "By this we know" , v.9, "If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater:", v10, "He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made Him a liar;" v13, "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the son of God." Chapter 5: 18-21 should be read and notice: v18 "We know", v19 "And we know", v20 "And we know." GOD WANTS US TO KNOW THAT WE ARE SAVED. Look again at v10, "He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself:" God has given the Holy Spirit to every Born Again believer. He is the "witness" in every believer.

When the devil tries to cause a true believer to doubt Salvation, The Holy Spirit in the Believer speaks assurance to our heart. The Holy Spirit will assure your heart when you can answer these questions: Have you been convinced of your sinful condition? Have you confessed yourself a sinner? Have you believed the Gospel, that Jesus died for you, was buried and rose again for your justification? Have you in repentance and faith received Him? If the answers are "Yes", you have no need of further doubt! 1John 5:12, "He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life." (see John 3:36 and 5:24).
