Lordship of Christ and Life of a Believer

In 2 Tim. 3, Paul describes the last days as perilous times. He describes men in v5 as, "Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof." In Luke 6:39-44 Jesus describes good trees and corrupt trees, stating that a good tree (Christian) produces good fruit. Then He points to the heart where all of life is revealed and asks this question in v46: "And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?" Paul also states in Tit.1:16, "They profess that they know God; but in works they deny Him..." In Matt.7:21-29 Jesus points again to those who call him "Lord, Lord" to whom He will say "I never knew you." In Matt. 23:3 He speaks of those who "say, and do not." Then in James 1:22 we read, "But be ye doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves." James 3:17,20 and 26 all point out that "Faith without works is dead." The key to good works in the life of a Christian is the Lordship of Christ in his life. Remember again, Jesus said, "Why call ye me Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?" Lordship and doing what He says are inseparable. In John 10: 1-10 Jesus leads His sheep, they follow His voice and they will not follow another (another lord). In Luke 10:25-29 a lawyer asks, "What shall I do to inherit eternal life?" Jesus points him to the law asking "what does the law say?" He answers from the law, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind..."

Listen to 1 John 2:3-5, "And hereby we do know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He that saith, I know Him, and keepeth not His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth His word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: Hereby know we that we are in Him. He that saith he abideth in Him ought himself also so to walk, even as He walked." Look now at vss. 15-17, "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the World. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: But he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever." James 1:22 , "But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves." Please read 2 Cor. 5:17 and 1 Cor.6:9-11. The evidence of The Lordship of Christ in your life is a Change in you. Actually, it is impossible to accept Christ as Saviour without accepting His Lordship in your Life. That is the fruit of Repentance. Have you truely been born again. Is Jesus Lord?
