The Only Name Under Heaven

I preached this message 2-2-03 here at Faith. Two ladies were wonderfully saved. The Bible sets forth Salvation as obtained solely through the merit of Jesus Christ the Redeemer. It is becoming more and more common for people to accept Jesus as only one way of many ways to go to Heaven. It is impossible to believe the Bible as the absolute authority and hold that position. The questions to be answered are these: Do good, sincere, devout, honest, religious people go to Heaven even though they have not come to faith in the Death of Jesus Christ for their sinful condition? Is Salvation possible for those who have never accepted Jesus Christ as Saviour? There are many verses in the Bible that can be cited to prove Christ as the only way to Heaven.

In Acts 4:12 we see, "Neither is there Salvation in any other: for there is none other name under Heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." That Verse alone includes all who accept Christ as Saviour and excludes all that reject Christ. John 1:11-12 states, "He came unto His own (Jews) and His own received Him not. But as many has received Him, to them gave He power to become the Sons of God, even to them that believe on His name." Those verses include all who receive Christ as Saviour and exclude all who reject Him. 1 Tim 2:5 states, "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus." 2 John 6-11 points out the error of rejecting the "doctrine of Christ." It is so strong that true believers are not to invite those into their homes who "bring not this doctrine." I pointed this out in the "Cult" articles recently. Paul dealt with the subject in Galatians. See Gal. 1:6-10 where those who pervert the Gospel of Christ are "accursed." It means to be "banned," "excommunicated," "cursed," banished from God's presence forever. In Romans 9:1-3, Paul was willing to be "accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh." In Rom. 10:1-21 his "Heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved." Then he shows how they did not submit to God's righteousness through Christ. Chapter 9:25-33 shows Christ to be their "stumbling stone and rock of offence."

Please see these verses: John 8:24, 36-59; Heb. 10:26-31; Rev. 1:1-18, 19:7-16; 1Thess. 2:13-20; 2Thess.2:1-17; Matt. 7:13-14, 21-23 and finally 1John 5:12 which states, "He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life." COULD IT BE SAID ANY PLAINER? If you hope to go to Heaven without going through the Lord Jesus Christ, your hope is hopeless. Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me."
