I see thy tears

Some regrets that will die with us or go with us into eternity
In a restaurant recently I struck up a conversation with a member of an area church. As I often do, I asked if he had ever been Born Again. He replied, "I'm working on it." When he said that I knew I was dealing with an UNSAVED CHURCH MEMBER. Any man who believes he can "work" on being Born Again (receiving the "new nature") does not understand the gospel, and therefore could never have accepted it by faith.
Ephesians 2:8-9 states, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
Titus 3:5: "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;"
Anyone who tries to give the gospel regularly can empathize with the story above. Church members are very difficult to witness to because they THINK they know what they are talking about, but in actuality they often have NO IDEA.
2 Corinthians 4:4: "In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them."
Let me say this as bluntly as I know how:
THERE ARE ONLY TWO ENTITIES INVOLVED IN BIBLE SALVATION.
- One (1) Human (you)
- The One (1) God (the God of the Bible)
The One (1) human can have only one action in Bible salvation: that action
is Faith in Jesus Christ.
The One (1) God takes care of all other actions. (i.e.. erasing the sin debt, imparting the New Nature, imputing Christ's Righteousness, taking the human to heaven after death, etc...)
Hebrews 10:12-17: "But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more."
If the One (1) human tries to take any other action(s), it indicates his lack of faith in God's "one sacrifice for sins for ever" thus excluding him from the salvation which is by FAITH ALONE. Some church members tell me, "I have faith, but I'm trying to do good, too." If they are trying to "do good" toward salvation (which only they and God know) they have nullified their bid for salvation.
Romans 11:6: "And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work."
"I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved..." John 10:9a
"...I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?" John 11:25-26.
Believest thou this?
