America's Declaration of Independence from God, and The Christian's Dependence Upon God

I will be preaching tomorrow July 1, 2012, on the subject, "America's Declaration of Independence from God, and The Christian's Dependence Upon God."

I give here my article from our site which I wrote following a message I preached in 2008 just before the last Presidential election. What has transpired since that election is unbelievable. Just this week's Supreme Court decision is telling.
Listen to a quote from Thomas Jefferson Oct. 31, 1823:
At the establishment of our constitutions, the judiciary bodies were supposed to be the most helpless and harmless members of the government. Experience, however, soon showed in what way they were to become the most dangerous; that the insufficiency of the means provided for their removal gave them a freehold and irresponsibility in office; that their decisions, seeming to concern individual suitors only, pass silent and unheeded by the public at large; that these decisions, nevertheless, become law by precedent, sapping, by little and little, the foundations of the constitution, and working its change by construction, before any one has perceived that that invisible and helpless worm has been busily employed in consuming its substance. In truth, man is not made to be trusted for life, if secured against all liability to account.
Thomas Jefferson, letter to Monsieur A. Coray, Oct 31, 1823
                   "The Biblical Connection Between God and Government"
It is a fact of history that when nations are Godly, they are great. America was at its best when it was truly a God-fearing nation, and the more ungodly we become, the weaker we have become in every aspect. Biblically speaking, there is no such thing as “separation of Church and State.” It is God who sets up governments and puts down governments. I give here a list of verses concerning the subject: Ex. 18:15-17; 2 Chron. 19:4-9; Psalms 9:16-20 esp. v17; Prov. 8:13-18; Prov. 21:1; Psalms75:6-7; Dan. 2:14-22,37,44,47 ; Dan. 3:29-4:3, 17,36-37; Dan. 5:1-8, 17-18,22-30.
I could go on and on with God commanding wars, with the unusual deaths of the kings in war, with miraculous wars won by God for His people even on up to our time. He brought plagues on the enemies, confusion and caused their defeat in wonderful ways.
Look at Deut. 28. There are 68 verses, too many to read. However, the first 14 verses describe the Biblical connection between God and government. Verses 15-18 show what happens when the connection is broken. Now watch what happens when God is honored by a nation:
(1) That nation is honored and respected by all nations. Vs.1
(2) That nation is fruitful in every way and place v11-12
(3) That nation has military strength unequalled. Vs.7,10-20
(4) That nation has monetary freedom, will lend to others and shalt not borrow. V12 (5) That nation will lead, not follow. Vs.13-14 .
FINALLY, WHEN A NATION, OUR NATION TURNS FROM GOD, V15, All these curses come, and sadly, they are here:
Our food supply is foreign;
Our financial system is foreign;
Our military is stretched to the max;
Our leaders are the tail and not the lead;
Our nation has become perverted and corrupt, and God has removed His hand of blessing!
Our only hope is Christ! Read the rest of the chapter and weep, tremble and pray. THERE IS A CONNECTION BETWEEN GOD AND GOVERNMENT. “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD.” Ps. 33:12 ; “The wicked shall be turned into Hell, and all the nations that forget God.” Psalm 9:17
Pray like you never prayed before. Live like you never lived before! Stand like you never stood before! Our nation has never been more vulnerable than she is today!

We can only ask God to Bless America as "In God We Trust."
