Right Turn Expectations, Left Turn Navigations

This article is written with the hope that those who are having new and higher expectations for the new year will be encouraged to know that the same decisions that brought the same failed results last year will not give different results.  May I encourage you to take a few minutes to evaluate your plan and change what did not work, make the Biblical corrections and see God work.

I made this quote some time ago: “It never turns out right, when you turn left.”

My title is a play on words, but basically, it means, you cannot continue to make bad mistakes and expect good results.  How can people expect things to turn out right when they are always turning left in their lives?

There are reasonable expectations in life, and there are unreasonable expectations…

Look at Gal. 6:7 and notice that people can be deceived in their expectations.  “Be not deceived, God is not mocked: For whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”

The deception is that he thinks he can sow one thing and get another thing!  The Word of God shows us “That shall he also reap.”

Look at Matt. 7:13-20 and notice a simple question with a simple answer:  “Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?”  Again, this is an unreasonable expectation.  Look at Luke 6:43-44  This is why our government is failing…expecting different results from the same failed actions.

You cannot get on the wrong road and arrive at the right destination!  This reminds me of Prov. 14:12 and 16:25 which state, “There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”

If you take the same road (Make the same choices), you will come to the same destination.  1Cor. 10:6  “Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.”  Our example is, “we cannot get different results from the same actions.”

I stand amazed at people I have seen over the years who watch others make wrong turns with right expectations, and see the result, yet they themselves follow the same deceptive path.

If you have an expectation of things turning out right, you cannot continue making left turn decisions.

I want to deal with several  areas of right turn expectations.

1.  FAITH. We cannot make left turns in our faith and have right turn expectations.  How can you expect your Spiritual life to be sweet, strong, stable, satisfying and blessed of God when you go left from Church? From the Word of God? From regular Prayer, From Fellowship with God and His people, From Worship, From Biblical Separation?  Look at 1 Tim. 1:5,6,19

2. FAMILY.  We cannot make left turns in our family and have right turn expectations.  How can you expect your family to turn out right, when you keep leading them left?  Fathers, How can you expect your sons and daughters to turn out right when you constantly allow them to go left?  Prov. 22:6

3.  FINANCES.  We cannot take left turns in our finances and have right turn expectations.  We do not have more by spending more.  We do not have good returns from bad investments.   It is senseless to brag on good credit…for it adds not one penny to our worth.  1 Tim. 6:6-10
Prov 22:29  “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.”

You cannot dishonour God with your finances and be honored by God for the improper use of what He allows you to be entrusted with.

Now, Hosea 10:12 “Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.”

Cor. 9:6  “But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.”

Whatever we sow this year, “THAT SHALL WE ALSO REAP.”
