Preaching about the Blood of Christ is becoming more and more unpopular. Some Churches and Denominations are shying away from this subject for fear of turning away people from their Churches. Some have even removed hymns about the Blood of Christ from the hymnals. We are living in the "Age of Bloodless Religion." There is quite a bit of this happening today, people accepting a Bloodless Christ, accepting a historical Christ but rejecting His mediatorial, Blood sacrificial death. Vain religion is built around the participant rather than the provision. Vain religion looks in for peace and provision, rather than looking up for peace and provision. Vain religion makes people happy through false confidence, rather than making people holy through faith in Christ's Blood. Hebrews 9:1-28 should be read with Exodus 12:1-13 to understand that the Old Testament sacrificial system prefigured and patterned the New Testament payment for the sin of the world through the Blood of Christ. 1Pet. 1:19 states our redemption from sin was "with the precious blood of Christ, as of a Lamb without blemish and without spot." Hebrews 9:14 states, "How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, purge your conscience for dead works to serve the living God?"
Let me share 3 things The Blood of Christ Accomplished:
- It took away the Reproach of Sin. Ps. 69:6-21. This is Messianic, speaking of Christ. Verse 9 (which is quoted in Rom. 15:3 and attributed to Christ) states, "the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon Me." Read also 1 Pet.2:21-24, especially v24.
- It took away the Record of Sin. Acts 3:12-19. Read also Isa. 43:21-25. Read also Ps. 103:8-13, especially v12. Look at Heb. 10:10-22. Simply put, when I came to Christ, believing that He died for me in my place, the sin that separated me from God was blotted out. There is no record of me being a sinner before God.
- It took away the Rights of Satan. Look up all these verses and read: Rom. 7:6; 2 Tim. 2:24-26; Isa. 61:1-2; Luke 4:18; Acts 26:14-19; Rom. 8:14-21 and finally, Col. 1:12-14. It takes Faith in the Blood of Christ to deliver us from the power of darkness and translate us into the Kingdom of His dear Son: "In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins." IF you have not been saved through the Blood of Christ, You are not saved! (please read Rom. 3:25)
